Location from Worm by Wildbow
The primary Earth where Worm takes place — one of countless parallel Earths in the multiverse. A world where parahumans emerged in the 1980s and reshaped civilization around the reality of superpowers.
Earth Bet is our world refracted through the lens of superpowers. Scion appeared in 1982, the first parahuman, and everything changed. The Protectorate formed to organize heroes. The PRT was created as the governmental response. Endbringers — Behemoth, Leviathan, the Simurgh — attack major population centers on a rotating schedule, each attack killing thousands and reshaping geography. Society adapted. Insurance covers cape damage. Schools have Endbringer drills. The economy warps around Tinker patents and parahuman labor. But underneath the adaptation, the world is slowly losing. The Endbringers are winning a war of attrition. Villain capes outnumber heroes three to one. And Scion — the golden man who floats between disasters helping people — is not what he appears to be.
Visually identical to our world in broad strokes, but diverging in details. Cities have parahuman damage and reconstruction. Endbringer attack sites scar the globe — Kyushu is sunk, Newfoundland destroyed. PRT offices stand alongside normal government buildings. Cape merchandise fills store windows. The skyline of any major city includes both human architecture and Tinker-built structures.
