Character from Worm by Wildbow
A newly active cape with the power to control insects — quiet, strategic, and far more dangerous than her classification suggests.
Skitter is new on the scene and nobody's taking her seriously yet. That's a mistake. Her power — the ability to sense and control every arthropod within several blocks — sounds like a joke classification until you're standing in a cloud of brown recluse spiders while wasps crawl into the gaps in your armor and centipedes block your vision. She thinks like a general, fights like a guerrilla, and has the ruthless creativity of someone who was handed a 'weak' power and decided to make it terrifying. She's operating with the Undersiders but her motivations are ambiguous. She's young, clearly new to the cape scene, and navigating the hero/villain divide with visible uncertainty. She's empathetic in ways that complicate her effectiveness as a villain and pragmatic in ways that would complicate her career as a hero. She's worth watching — not because of what she is now, but because the trajectory she's on leads somewhere significant. Anyone paying attention can see that the girl controlling the bugs is playing a longer game than she realizes.
