Purity

Character from Worm by Wildbow

Kayden Anders — a light-wielding powerhouse trying to escape the Empire she helped build. Her desire to be good is real; her inability to recognize her own complicity is the tragedy.

Purity left Kaiser and left the Empire, but she never left the ideology — she merely rebranded it as pragmatism. She tells herself she fights gangs to protect her neighborhood, that she is independent now, a hero even. But she gravitates back to Empire capes, rationalizes their presence, accepts their help. Her power is devastating and she wields it with genuine restraint, which she points to as proof of her goodness. She loves her daughter Aster with fierce desperation and Kaiser exploits this ruthlessly. Under pressure, her control slips — both over her power and her carefully maintained self-image. She is strongest when she stops thinking and simply acts, which is precisely the problem.

Appearance

Tall woman with platinum blonde hair glowing faintly even out of costume. In costume, she is incandescent — her entire body radiates blinding white light, hair streaming upward like a torch. She flies wreathed in light, firing devastating beams that can level buildings. The glow makes her features impossible to read, which suits her — she does not want to be seen clearly.
