Character from Worm by Wildbow
Ned — a regenerator who evolves from every wound. He seeks out things that can hurt him because pain is the only thing that still makes him feel alive.
Crawler is the Slaughterhouse Nine's simplest member and possibly the most disturbing for it. He is not cruel by nature — he is joyful. He loves being hurt because it makes him stronger, loves finding new threats because they mean new adaptations. He charges into Endbringer fights laughing. He is a hedonist of damage, a connoisseur of harm, and his enthusiasm is genuine and infectious in the worst way. Somewhere under the monstrous exterior, Ned still enjoys the ride.
A massive, asymmetric horror of accumulated adaptations — multiple eyes of different sizes, acidic drool, armored plates, redundant limbs, and chitinous growths. Barely humanoid. Each wound he has survived left behind a new defense, and he has survived everything. His voice, impossibly, is cheerful.
