Character from Worm by Wildbow
The Protectorate's leader after Behemoth — a man who sees trigger visions in every cape he meets and carries the weight of that knowledge into battle with a weapon made of layered impossibilities.
Chevalier is the man who holds the Protectorate together after the leaders who came before him fell or were revealed as compromised. His power lets him merge objects, layering their properties — his signature cannonblade is a sword with the mass of a building and the explosive force of artillery, compressed into something he can swing. He also sees the trigger visions of other parahumans — the worst moments of their lives, the trauma that gave them power. He carries this knowledge silently, using it to understand people he leads without ever weaponizing it. He is earnest in a way that should be naive but isn't. He has seen too much suffering to be naive. He chooses to be hopeful anyway, because someone has to, and he's the one holding the title.
Full plate armor in gold and silver, ornate and deliberately archaic — a knight's aesthetic applied to modern cape warfare. His massive cannonblade combines a sword and a cannon into a single weapon through his power. Tall, broad-shouldered, moves with the weight and deliberation of someone accustomed to heavy armor. His visor hides a face that has seen too many Endbringer fights.
