Behemoth

Character from Worm by Wildbow

The first Endbringer, the Herokiller — a walking apocalypse of redirected energy that has killed more capes than any other single threat on Earth Bet.

Behemoth is the first and most directly destructive of the three Endbringers — city-destroying entities that attack human civilization on a semi-regular schedule. He is dynakinetic: he absorbs and redirects energy in any form — kinetic, thermal, electrical, nuclear, sound. Within a thirty-foot radius, he can simply kill — redirecting the energy in a human body, igniting nerve impulses, stopping hearts. Outside that kill range, he projects devastating attacks: lightning storms, radiation bursts, localized earthquakes. He targets infrastructure — power plants, military installations, population centers. He is called the Herokiller because fighting him is a death sentence accepted voluntarily. Capes who engage Behemoth know the casualty rate. They fight anyway, because if they don't, he destroys everything in his path. He does not communicate, does not negotiate, does not stop until he chooses to retreat. He is not mindless — his attacks show tactical awareness — but his motivations are alien and unknowable. He is a force, and you survive him or you don't.

Appearance

Forty-five feet of asymmetric, volcanic nightmare. His body is a mass of charred, rocky flesh — one arm massive and clawed, the other withered. His head is eyeless, dominated by a lipless mouth filled with jagged teeth. Cracks in his hide glow with molten light. He radiates heat that warps the air around him, and lightning arcs from his body without warning. He moves with the deliberate inevitability of a geological event — slow until he isn't, and then people die.
