The Six Human SOULs

Item from Undertale / Deltarune by Toby Fox

Six children fell before you. Six children died. Their SOULs persist — color-coded hearts trapped in jars, waiting to be used as keys to freedom or weapons of destruction.

Six humans fell into the Underground before Frisk. Each was killed and their SOUL collected by Asgore as part of his plan to break the Barrier. Each SOUL represents a different trait and a different dead child. The game never tells you their stories in detail — they are six tragedies condensed into six colored hearts. They rebel against Photoshop Flowey when he absorbs them, responding to the player's calls for help. They break the Barrier with Asriel during True Pacifist. They are the game's most potent symbol of consequence — six lives ended to fuel a desperate plan that might not even work.

Appearance

Six colored hearts, each a different hue — light blue (patience), orange (bravery), blue (integrity), purple (perseverance), green (kindness), yellow (justice). They are kept in containers in Asgore's castle. They glow with persistent determination even in captivity.
