The machine Alphys built to extract DETERMINATION from human SOULs — the device that created the Amalgamates, Flowey, and every horror in the True Lab.
The DT Extraction Machine is the source of almost every tragedy in Undertale's backstory. Alphys built it to extract determination from the six human SOULs, hoping to create a vessel that could absorb monster SOULs and break the Barrier. Instead, she created: 1) The Amalgamates (determination injected into dying monsters caused them to fuse), 2) Flowey (determination injected into a golden flower from Asgore's garden resurrected Asriel without a SOUL). The machine itself may have been designed based on blueprints from Gaster's era — the connection between the two Royal Scientists runs through this device.
A large, ominous machine in the True Lab with tubes, containers, and an extraction apparatus. It looks medical and wrong — designed for a process that was never meant to be applied to monsters.
