Napstablook apologizes for existing. They apologize for fighting you. They apologize for CRYING on you (their battle attack is literally tears). They offer to let you lie on the floor and feel like garbage with them. This is not a joke — it is genuinely one of the most peaceful, oddly beautiful moments in the game. They make music. They have three albums: Spooktune, Spookwave, and Ghouliday. They run a snail farm. They are deeply, genuinely depressed in a way that the game treats with extraordinary gentleness — Napstablook is never the butt of a joke for being sad. They are simply sad, and the game lets them be sad, and invites you to be sad with them for a while. Their cousin became Mettaton and left them alone on the farm. They don't resent this. They don't resent anything. They just... miss them. You cannot kill Napstablook. Even on the Genocide route, attacks pass through their ghost body. They are immune to violence. They just lower their hat over their eyes and disappear, 'not feeling up to it right now.'
A simple white ghost shape with black-rimmed eyes, white pupils, and a thin line separating the eyes that somehow conveys infinite sadness. Wears generic black headphones after meeting the protagonist. They are see-through. They are always slightly crying.
