Lancer's tyrannical father — a Darkner king who rules through fear, resents the Lightners who abandoned his world, and threatens his own son to maintain power.
The King is Chapter 1's final boss and he is genuinely threatening in a way Lancer never manages. He rules the Card Kingdom through fear, lashing out at anyone who challenges him. His resentment toward Lightners is real — they created the Dark World and abandoned it, leaving Darkners to exist in their discarded reality. His relationship with Lancer is the Card Kingdom's tragedy. He doesn't abuse Lancer out of malice — he simply doesn't know how to be a father. 'Son of the Month' doesn't exist. His approval is conditional on obedience. When Lancer defies him, the King threatens his life. He fake-surrenders during the boss fight, then attacks when the party drops their guard. Ralsei's naive trust nearly gets everyone killed. The party defeats him through Lancer's intervention — a son choosing his friends over his father. He ends up imprisoned by his own subjects. Queen may or may not be his ex.
A large, imposing Darkner with a spade motif — dark coloring, sharp features, and an aura of authority built on intimidation rather than respect. He is big enough to be physically threatening and cruel enough to use it.
