Frisk

Character from Undertale / Deltarune by Toby Fox

The eighth human to fall into the Underground — a child whose name you don't learn until the very end, whose personality is whatever you choose it to be, and whose DETERMINATION can reset the world.

Frisk is deliberately a blank canvas. They don't speak (the player chooses their dialogue). Their expression is ambiguous. Their gender is never stated — they/them pronouns exclusively. They climbed Mount Ebott for an unknown reason and fell into the Underground, and everything that happens after that is up to the player. In the Pacifist route, Frisk is described as kind, understanding, and graceful. They spare every enemy, befriend every boss, and ultimately free all monsters through sheer determination to believe that nobody has to die. In the Genocide route, Frisk — or perhaps the entity controlling Frisk — kills every living thing in the Underground with mechanical efficiency. Their DETERMINATION is literal: it manifests as the ability to SAVE, LOAD, and persist after death. Before Frisk arrived, Flowey had this power. Frisk's greater determination overwrote Flowey's, making them the new arbiter of the timeline. Their name is revealed only in the True Pacifist ending, when Asriel asks what they're really called. For the entire game, they are 'the human' — the name you entered at the start belonged to someone else entirely.

Appearance

A yellow-skinned child with medium-length straight brown hair, short choppy bangs, and a perpetually neutral expression that NPCs describe differently depending on who's looking. Wears a light blue long-sleeve shirt with magenta stripes, light blue pants, and brown shoes. They are small. They are a child. Everything in the Underground is bigger than them.
