Character from Undertale / Deltarune by Toby Fox
The first human to fall into the Underground — a child who hated humanity, loved monsters, and made a plan with their best friend that got them both killed. Whether they were a villain or a victim depends on who you ask.
Chara is Undertale's most deliberately ambiguous character. The game gives you facts and lets you decide what they mean. Fact: Chara climbed Mount Ebott 'for an unhappy reason.' They hated humanity. Fact: They were adopted by Toriel and Asgore and became Asriel's sibling and best friend. Fact: They made Asgore sick by putting buttercups in his pie — possibly an accident, possibly a test. Fact: They deliberately poisoned themselves with buttercups so Asriel could absorb their SOUL, carry their body across the Barrier, and take six human SOULs to free all monsters. Fact: When Asriel crossed over and humans attacked, Chara wanted to use 'full power' to fight back. Asriel refused. They both died. Fact: In the Genocide Route, Chara addresses you directly. They speak of 'power' and 'purpose.' They claim your determination reawakened them. They offer to destroy the world. If you refuse, they do it anyway. Interpretation is left to the player. Were they a traumatized child who wanted to free monsters? A manipulative sociopath who used Asriel? Something in between? The game does not answer. That is the point.
Resembles Frisk almost exactly — same age, similar fashion — but with cream skin, brown medium-length hair with side-swept bangs, rosy cheeks, and brown eyes. Their clothing colors are inverted from Frisk's. In the Genocide Route ending, their eyes glow red. They can make a 'creepy face' that unsettled even Asriel.
