Berdly is annoying and he knows it and he can't stop. He speaks about himself in the third person. He references his own intelligence constantly. He 'won' a spelling bee only because Noelle — the actual smartest student — couldn't spell 'December' due to trauma, and he's been riding that victory ever since. But Berdly is more than his ego. He genuinely cares about Noelle, even if he expresses it badly. When Queen offers him power, he accepts enthusiastically, then realizes he's being used and rebels. In his best moment, he stands against Queen to protect Noelle because it's the right thing to do. On the Snowgrave route, he is the victim. Noelle freezes him solid at the player's command. In the normal route, he survives and begins actually growing as a person. Whether he gets that chance depends entirely on the player's choices. He develops a crush on Susie. It is not mutual. It never will be. This does not stop him.
