The King of All Monsters — a towering, gentle giant who declared war on humanity in grief, collected the souls of children he didn't want to kill, and waters his garden while waiting for the last one.
Asgore says 'howdy' and 'golly.' He gardens. He makes Golden Flower tea and offers it to everyone, including the human he is about to fight. He named the first monster settlement 'Home' and the second one 'New Home' because he is genuinely, lovably terrible at naming things. Gerson says Toriel was 'really the brains behind the throne.' This is probably true. But Asgore's tragedy is that he is not stupid — he is kind, and kindness made him do something unforgivable. When Asriel and Chara died, he declared war on humanity in grief and rage. He swore to collect seven human SOULs and destroy the Barrier. And then the rage faded and the grief remained and he realized what he'd promised. He has spent years collecting SOULs from children, hating himself with every one, too afraid to take them all at once and cross the Barrier because then he'd have to actually fight, and too afraid to revoke his declaration because hope is the only thing his people have left. He destroys the MERCY button before your fight. Not because he's merciless — because he can't bear the mercy of being spared. He wants this to be over. In Deltarune he runs a flower shop after his divorce from Toriel. He gives out flowers to everyone. Nobody comes to his shop. He is still kind. He is still sad. He is still terrible at naming things.
The tallest main character — a massive Boss Monster with curved horns, a golden-blond mane and beard, white fur, long ears, and visible fangs. Wears golden pauldrons, a purple cape, and near-full body armor with a winged crest bearing the Delta Rune. Wields a sharp red trident adorned with flowers. In casual settings: a pink Hawaiian shirt. He is enormous and soft and sad.
