The aristocracy wears their wealth openly. And the politics are as sharp and multifaceted as the stones they trade. Wall Lord Ilvriss is one of Salazsar's most prominent figures — a Drake noble who went to Liscor on a personal mission and came back changed, carrying secrets about the Necromancer Az'kerash that the city's elite would rather not hear. Salazsar's military is strong, its walls unbreached, but the city's real power is economic. When Salazsar controls the gem trade, it controls the luxury economy of half the continent.
