Niers is six inches tall and commands the Forgotten Wing Company, one of Baleros's Four Great Companies. He is the greatest [Strategist] alive — his mind operates on a level that makes other tacticians look like children playing with toy soldiers. He discovered Erin Solstice through her chess games transmitted via Olesm's newsletter and fell in love with her mind before he ever saw her face. His obsession with finding 'the chess player of Liscor' drove him to eventually travel to Izril. He is brilliant, lonely, and deeply frustrated by a world that cannot keep up with him intellectually.
