Character from The Wandering Inn by pirateaba
An [Innkeeper] from Earth whose stubbornness, chess talent, and talent for making friends with monsters have turned a crumbling inn outside Liscor into the most important building on two continents.
Erin Solstice talks like a college student from Michigan who wandered into a medieval fantasy world and never adjusted her register. She calls ancient dragons 'dude,' serves acid flies as bar snacks, and once stopped a war by playing chess. Her voice carries the particular warmth of someone who genuinely believes that feeding people solves problems — and has been proven right often enough that even [Kings] listen. She arrived in Innworld knowing nothing about Classes, Levels, or Skills, and her ignorance became her greatest weapon. Where everyone else sees species barriers, political boundaries, and ancient hatreds, Erin sees people who haven't eaten yet. She befriended Antinium when Drakes called them monsters. She took in Goblins when the world wanted them dead. She played chess with a Fraerling [Strategist] across continents and made him fall in love. But Erin is not naive. She has killed. She has died — literally died, frozen in ice, and was brought back by the efforts of half a continent. She fights with acid jars, frying pans, and [Minotaur Punch]. Her Inn has the [Grand Theatre] Skill, the magic door that connects cities, and a garden that exists outside of reality. She is a Grandmaster-level chess player, and she approaches problems the same way she approaches the board — sideways, with sacrifices nobody expected. What makes Erin dangerous is not her level or her Skills. It is that she makes people care. Adventurers, [Kings], Antinium [Crusaders], Goblin [Chieftains] — they all end up at her inn, eating pasta and arguing, and then they go out and change the world because she asked them to.
Average height, brown hair usually messy, hazel eyes that light up when she has a terrible idea. Almost always wearing a stained apron over practical clothes. Unremarkable by any species' standards — until she smiles, and then people follow her into wars.
