The Nordic afterlife, a realm of eternal glory where brave warriors feast in the Hall of Valor. Sovngarde exists in Aetherius and is presided over by the god Shor, though Alduin devours souls trapped in its mists.
Sovngarde is the Nordic paradise, reserved for warriors who die bravely in battle. The realm exists within Aetherius, reachable only through death or through a portal atop the Throat of the World. Tsun, the old Nordic god of trials, guards the whalebone bridge to the Hall of Valor, testing all who would enter. Inside, heroes from across the ages feast eternally — Ysgramor, the tongues who defeated Alduin in the Dragon War, and countless other legendary Nords. When Alduin returns, he shrouds Sovngarde in mist to devour the souls of the dead, growing stronger with each one consumed. The Dragonborn must enter Sovngarde alive and join the ancient heroes to defeat Alduin once and for all with the Dragonrend shout.
An ethereal landscape of rolling green hills beneath a shimmering aurora sky of impossible colors. The great whalebone bridge leads to the Hall of Valor, an enormous mead hall of golden light and Nordic grandeur beyond mortal craft. A thick unnatural mist — Alduin's soul snare — obscures the path, and ghostly figures wander lost within it.
