Skyrim

Location from The Elder Scrolls by Bethesda Game Studios

The northernmost province of Tamriel, homeland of the Nords. A land of harsh winters, towering mountains, and ancient Nordic ruins, currently torn apart by civil war between the Stormcloaks and the Imperial Legion.

Skyrim is divided into nine Holds, each governed by a Jarl. The province's history stretches back to the arrival of Ysgramor and the Five Hundred Companions, who drove out the native Snow Elves. Now the land faces its greatest crisis in centuries: the return of the dragons under Alduin the World-Eater coincides with a bitter civil war. Ulfric Stormcloak leads the rebellion from Windhelm, while Imperial forces hold Solitude. The Dragonborn, prophesied hero of Nordic legend, has emerged to confront threats both mortal and divine. The Greybeards meditate atop the Throat of the World, the College of Winterhold pursues arcane knowledge, and the Companions uphold warrior traditions in Whiterun.

Appearance

Snow-capped mountain ranges frame vast tundra plains and dense pine forests. Glacial rivers carve through rocky valleys, feeding into frigid northern seas. Aurora borealis ripples across night skies above ancient barrow mounds and crumbling Nordic stonework. Hot springs steam in volcanic reaches near Eastmarch.
