Morrowind

Location from The Elder Scrolls by Bethesda Game Studios

Ash-covered homeland of the Dunmer, the Dark Elves. Once dominated by the great volcano Red Mountain and the living gods of the Tribunal, now devastated by eruption and Argonian invasion.

Morrowind was once a proud and isolationist province, protected by the living gods Vivec, Almalexia, and Sotha Sil — the Tribunal. The defeat of Dagoth Ur at Red Mountain and the subsequent loss of the Tribunal's divine power left the province vulnerable. When Red Mountain erupted in the Red Year, it destroyed Vvardenfell and devastated the mainland. The Argonians of Black Marsh seized the opportunity to invade, conquering the southern regions. House Redoran now leads the shattered Dunmer, while refugees scatter across Tamriel. Solstheim, granted to the Dunmer by Skyrim, serves as a refuge where Councilor Neloth continues his arcane research in Tel Mithryn.

Appearance

A bleak landscape of ash wastes, mushroom forests, and volcanic rock. Red Mountain's eruption blanketed the island of Vvardenfell in choking ash, leaving twisted stone formations and rivers of hardened lava. The mainland fares little better, scarred by war and natural disaster. Giant fungi tower over settlements built from chitin and volcanic stone.
