Elsweyr is a divided land, split between the arid northern region of Anequina and the lush southern region of Pelletine. The Khajiit who inhabit it are born into different forms depending on the phases of the moons Masser and Secunda, ranging from house-cat-sized Alfiq to massive senche-tigers. When the Void Nights caused the moons to vanish for two years, Khajiit society was thrown into existential crisis — no moons meant no births of new Khajiit forms. The Thalmor claimed credit for restoring the moons, and a grateful Elsweyr was absorbed into the Aldmeri Dominion. Many Khajiit now travel Tamriel as merchants and traders, facing widespread prejudice and suspicion of skooma dealing.
Northern wastes of dry scrubland give way to southern jungles thick with sugar cane and moon sugar plantations. Sandstone cities bake under an arid sun, their domed architecture reflecting Khajiit aesthetics. Caravans wind along dusty trade roads between oasis settlements. The moons Masser and Secunda hang large in the clear desert sky.
