Oghma Infinium

Item from The Elder Scrolls by Bethesda Game Studios

A tome of incredible knowledge created by Hermaeus Mora's servant Xarxes. Reading the Oghma Infinium grants the reader a surge of power in their chosen path — combat, magic, or stealth — before the book vanishes.

The Oghma Infinium is Hermaeus Mora's most coveted artifact, a book containing the accumulated knowledge of ages. It was written by Xarxes, the scribe of Auri-El who later became Hermaeus Mora's servant. In Skyrim, obtaining the Oghma Infinium requires completing Hermaeus Mora's questline, which involves betraying the trust of the last living Dwemer, Septimus Signus, who has been driven mad attempting to open a Dwemer lockbox. Upon reading, the book grants mastery in the reader's chosen discipline before vanishing. The Oghma Infinium represents the seductive danger of forbidden knowledge — Hermaeus Mora's eternal lure.

Appearance

A large bound tome of dark leather with a Daedric letter embossed on the cover in gold. The pages seem to contain shifting text in multiple languages, and the book radiates a subtle wrongness. Tentacle-like bookmarks protrude from the pages, hinting at its Apocryphan origin.
