Item from The Elder Scrolls by Bethesda Game Studios
The Daedric artifact of Meridia, a burning sword forged to destroy the undead. Dawnbreaker blazes with holy fire and causes undead to explode in radiant light, reflecting Meridia's hatred of necromancy and undeath.
Dawnbreaker is Meridia's chosen weapon against the undead, a sword that burns with holy fire and causes slain undead to explode in a burst of radiant energy that can turn nearby undead to flee. Meridia, though a Daedric Prince, is unique in her association with light and her intense hatred of undeath and necromancy — she was originally a Magna Ge who was cast out of Aetherius. In Skyrim, the Dragonborn retrieves Dawnbreaker from Meridia's temple after being literally lifted into the sky by the Prince and commanded to cleanse her shrine of a necromancer's corruption. The sword is particularly effective in Skyrim's many draugr-filled Nordic ruins.
An elegant one-handed sword with a blade that glows with intense golden-white light, as if forged from captured sunlight. The crossguard curves gracefully, and the blade itself seems to burn without heat to the wielder. When drawn, it illuminates the surrounding area with warm, cleansing radiance.
