Character from The Elder Scrolls by Bethesda Game Studios
Daedric Prince of Night, Shadow, and Luck. Patron of thieves and mistress of the Nightingales. Claims to be the oldest Daedric Prince, predating all others in the void.
Nocturnal is the Daedric Prince of Night, Darkness, and Luck — the Mistress of Shadow and patron of thieves throughout Tamriel. She claims the title of Ur-Dra, the oldest of the Daedric Princes, asserting that she existed in the Void before all others. Whether this is true or mere arrogance, no other Prince has successfully disputed it. She is the patron of the Nightingales, an elite trinity of thieves sworn to protect the Skeleton Key and the Twilight Sepulcher — her shrine in Skyrim. The Nightingales serve Nocturnal in life and in death, their souls bound to guard her interests in the Evergloam forever. In Skyrim's Thieves Guild questline, Mercer Frey's theft of the Skeleton Key drives the central conflict, and the Dragonborn must return it to restore Nocturnal's power. Her artifact, the Skeleton Key, is no mere lockpick — it unlocks potential itself, removing all barriers including those of the mind. Nocturnal does not seek worship or domination; she demands service and grants her agents luck and shadow in return. She is transactional, cold, and utterly reliable in her expectations — a Prince whose darkness you can at least trust to be consistent.
A hauntingly beautiful woman cloaked in living shadow that flows around her like liquid darkness. Her features are pale and sharp, framed by raven-black hair that merges with the shadows she commands. Her eyes are deep pools of starless night. She wears a hooded cloak of pure darkness, and wherever she stands, the light dims and shadows deepen. Her voice is cool, measured, and carries the weight of ancient authority.
