Neloth

Character from The Elder Scrolls by Bethesda Game Studios

Ancient Telvanni wizard-lord of extraordinary power and even more extraordinary arrogance. One of the few characters appearing in both Morrowind and Skyrim, spanning over 200 years.

Neloth is a Telvanni wizard-lord, a master enchanter, and one of the most powerful and insufferable mages in all of Tamriel. He first appeared in Morrowind as a councilor of House Telvanni in Sadrith Mora, and remarkably appears again over two hundred years later in Skyrim's Dragonborn DLC, having relocated to Solstheim after the Red Year devastated Morrowind. His personality is defined by supreme arrogance tempered by the fact that his arrogance is largely justified. He is genuinely one of the most accomplished wizards alive, with centuries of magical research behind him. He treats everyone — from Dragonborns to Daedric Princes — as mildly inconvenient interruptions to his work. His dialogue is legendary for its casual dismissiveness and dry humor. On Solstheim, he resides in Tel Mithryn, a giant mushroom tower grown in the traditional Telvanni style. He serves as a key ally during the Dragonborn DLC, providing essential knowledge about the Black Books and Hermaeus Mora. His apprentices have an alarming tendency to die in his experiments, which he views as an administrative inconvenience rather than a tragedy. Neloth represents the best and worst of House Telvanni — brilliant, amoral, and utterly unconcerned with anything outside his research.

Appearance

An elderly Dunmer man in ornate Telvanni robes of deep burgundy and gold, his face lined with age but his red eyes sharp with keen intelligence and withering disdain. His bearing is one of absolute superiority — he looks at everyone and everything as a particularly uninteresting specimen. His fingers are stained with alchemical reagents and his mushroom tower staff marks him as Telvanni.
