Mannimarco

Character from The Elder Scrolls by Bethesda Game Studios

The King of Worms, the greatest necromancer in Tamriel's history. An Altmer who achieved lichdom and possibly godhood, founding the Order of the Black Worm.

Mannimarco is the King of Worms, the most powerful and infamous necromancer in the history of Tamriel. An Altmer mage of prodigious talent, he studied alongside Vanus Galerion at the Psijic Order before being expelled for his experiments with the dead. Where Galerion went on to found the Mages Guild, Mannimarco founded its dark mirror — the Order of the Black Worm, a necromantic cult that has threatened Tamriel across multiple eras. Mannimarco's power is staggering. He achieved lichdom, making himself functionally immortal, and during the Warp in the West he may have achieved actual godhood — becoming the Necromancer's Moon, a celestial body that periodically blocks Arkay's influence and allows the creation of black soul gems. Whether he is a god, a lich, or somehow both simultaneously is one of the great metaphysical ambiguities of the Elder Scrolls. In Oblivion, he appears as the leader of the necromancers opposing the Mages Guild, having infiltrated and corrupted the organization from within. He is defeated by the Hero of Kvatch, though given his track record of returning from apparent death across multiple eras, few would bet on his permanent destruction. He represents the ultimate corruption of magical pursuit — brilliance turned entirely toward the domination of death itself.

Appearance

A tall, gaunt Altmer whose golden skin has faded to a deathly pallor. His eyes glow with necrotic energy, and his features are sharp and aristocratic even in undeath. He wears elaborate black and purple robes befitting his self-proclaimed title, and an aura of death clings to him — flowers wilt, candles gutter, and the air grows cold in his presence.
