Character from The Elder Scrolls by Bethesda Game Studios
Daedric Prince of Bargains, Wishes, and Trickery. Grants mortals their deepest desires through deals that always twist to ruin. Accompanied always by his loyal dog Barbas.
Clavicus Vile is the Daedric Prince of Bargains, Power, and Wishes. His sphere is the granting of wishes and the forging of pacts — always with a terrible price hidden in the fine print. He is the cosmic monkey's paw, delighting in the ironic destruction that comes when mortals get exactly what they asked for but not what they wanted. Barbas, his companion, is a shapeshifting Daedra who serves as the external manifestation of Vile's conscience and a significant portion of his power. When separated from Barbas, Vile becomes more petty and vindictive — which is saying something. In Skyrim, Vile asks the Dragonborn to retrieve the Rueful Axe and then offers a choice: kill Barbas to keep the axe, or reunite them to receive the Masque of Clavicus Vile. His artifact, the Masque of Clavicus Vile, makes the wearer supernaturally persuasive and likeable — fitting for a Prince whose power lies in making deals. Throughout history, Vile's bargains have toppled kingdoms, ended bloodlines, and turned triumph to ash. He is smaller and less overtly threatening than other Princes, but his capacity for ruin through fulfilled wishes makes him one of the most dangerous.
A small, impish figure with the appearance of a well-dressed young man, shorter than expected for a Daedric Prince. His face is sharp and fox-like with small horns protruding from his forehead and a perpetual smirk. His eyes gleam with the delight of someone who already knows how the deal ends. At his side trots Barbas, a scruffy grey dog who is actually the better half of Vile's power and conscience.
