The real reason is operational security: five students with a secret this dangerous need controlled living conditions and immediate access to their LaMont Company guardians. Chad moves in during Year 3, adding a sixth resident and the first non-Melbrook original. The dorm becomes a found-family space — the place where five people who can't tell anyone what they really are can be themselves. Movie nights, arguments, shared meals, late-night conversations about powers and fears and futures. Melbrook Hall is where the series' heart lives.
