One of five universities with an HCP — a California campus that looks like any college above ground while training the next generation of Heroes in a vast underground complex.
Lander University sits in Lander, California, looking exactly like every other college campus in the state. That's the point. The Hero Certification Program operates underground, invisible to normal students, hidden by architecture and institutional secrecy. The atmosphere above ground is casual, sunny, collegiate. Below ground, it's industrial and intense — combat arenas, training cells, the Labyrinth, medical facilities designed for people who can survive injuries that would kill normal humans. The contrast between the two worlds is the daily reality of every HCP student: attend normal classes by day, fight for your future by night. Lander was attacked by the Sons of Progress in Year 3, shattering the illusion of safety and killing students. The campus never fully recovers its innocence.
Above ground, a conventional California university campus — warm buildings, landscaped grounds, students who look normal because most of them are. The HCP entrance is hidden in plain sight. Nothing about the surface campus suggests the combat training facility beneath it.
