She gravitates toward helping people — her power is literally healing at cost to herself — and she struggles with the combat applications of an ability that she'd rather use to mend than destroy. They met as children — he saved her from bullies when he was nine, absorbing the attacks meant for her. They found each other again at Lander without realizing the connection at first. She is one of the few people whose goodness matches Vince's own, and their partnership as the Heroes Jack of All and Adrestia is the series' most poetic ending: the absorber and the absorber, together.
