Camille Belden

Character from Super Powereds by Drew Hayes

An injury absorber who heals by taking wounds into herself — small, quiet, and easy to underestimate, until you realize she can bypass any defense with a single touch.

Camille Belden's power is elegantly brutal: she absorbs injuries from others through touch, healing them by taking the damage into herself. She can then transfer those accumulated injuries to an enemy, also through touch, bypassing any physical defense. Enhanced durability, armor, force fields — none of it matters. One touch and every wound she's carrying becomes yours. She's quiet and empathetic in a way that's genuine rather than performative. She gravitates toward helping people — her power is literally healing at cost to herself — and she struggles with the combat applications of an ability that she'd rather use to mend than destroy. The Close Combat track forced her to accept that sometimes healing requires hurting the person causing the harm. Her relationship with Vince is the series' sweetest love story. They met as children — he saved her from bullies when he was nine, absorbing the attacks meant for her. They found each other again at Lander without realizing the connection at first. She is one of the few people whose goodness matches Vince's own, and their partnership as the Heroes Jack of All and Adrestia is the series' most poetic ending: the absorber and the absorber, together.

Appearance

Petite and unassuming with delicate features and a quiet presence that makes her easy to overlook in a crowd of larger, louder HCP students. She has dark hair and an gentle demeanor that belies her power's lethality. Her hands — the instruments of her ability — are small and careful. She dresses modestly and practically, never drawing attention.
