The town has been destroyed and rebuilt so many times the insurance industry considers it a write-off. Global conspiracies route through it. Celebrities end up here for no logical reason. The town functions as a microcosm of America — every national debate, cultural shift, and moral panic plays out on its streets within a week of happening in the real world. The adults are variously incompetent, well-meaning but clueless, or actively making things worse. The children are somehow more capable of handling crises than anyone over eighteen. The bus stop where the boys wait every morning is the show's most iconic location — four kids standing in the snow, waiting for a bus that's always late, while the world collapses around them. It's the calm before every storm.
