Cartman's house is where the show's darkest comedy begins. It's the planning room for schemes that range from forming a boy band to committing what would legally qualify as crimes against humanity if the perpetrator weren't nine. Liane floats through it like a ghost of permissive parenting, delivering snacks and absorbing verbal abuse with a smile. The basement has hosted Cartman's various enterprises. His room has contained evidence of plans that would concern child psychologists. The house's mundane suburban exterior concealing its interior chaos is the perfect visual metaphor for its inhabitants.
A modest single-story house in South Park's residential area. Looks normal from the outside — the dysfunction is all interior. Inside, Cartman's room is a command center of toys, video games, and whatever props his current scheme requires. The kitchen is where Liane serves whatever Cartman demands at whatever hour he demands it. It looks like any suburban home, which is the point.
