Mysterion is what happens when the crudest, poorest kid in South Park puts on a mask and becomes completely serious. Kenny's superhero alter ego has no ironic distance — he genuinely wants to protect people, and his power (dying and coming back) makes him uniquely suited to sacrifice. He's furious that no one remembers his deaths, and this existential horror fuels his vigilante intensity. The Coon trilogy episodes revealed Mysterion's identity and his cosmic connection to Cthulhu and the Old Ones. His inability to permanently die isn't a power — it's a curse, and the show treats it with genuine pathos. He watches his friends mourn other losses while his own deaths are forgotten by morning. Mysterion is the show's most emotionally complex creation hidden inside its most one-note character, and the reveal works because you never expected Kenny to have this much depth.
