Gerald Broflovski presents as the reasonable Broflovski parent — the calm counterpoint to Sheila's crusading fury. He's a lawyer, he's measured, he attends synagogue. And then the show revealed he was Skankhunt42, an anonymous internet troll who posted horrifying things online for the sheer thrill of watching people react. The trolling arc was South Park at its sharpest — Gerald wasn't a basement-dwelling teenager. He was a professional adult with a family who trolled because it made him feel powerful in a way his ordinary life didn't. The show used him to illustrate that online cruelty isn't a fringe behavior; it's what happens when normal people get anonymity and boredom. Outside that arc, he's a mostly competent father who struggles to connect with Kyle the way Kyle needs. He means well. He just occasionally does terrible things with the confidence of a man who's never been caught.
