A small music box shaped like a locket — given by Princess Serenity to Prince Endymion, it plays 'Moonlight Legend' and is one of the physical anchors of a love that outlasted the Silver Millennium.
Mamoru has had this locket his whole reborn life without knowing where it came from. He dropped it during a fight. Usagi found it and kept it for most of the first season, feeling something about it she couldn't name. When she learned who she was and who he was, the locket was there as evidence. Princess Serenity gave it to Prince Endymion before the end of the Silver Millennium — a piece of herself, a way of saying something she couldn't say clearly with words. It is one of the few things that survived the fall of the Moon Kingdom, moved forward in time by Queen Serenity's final act, and found its way back to both of them.
A small gold star-shaped locket that opens to reveal a music box mechanism. When it plays, the melody of 'Moonlight Legend' drifts out — soft, immediately recognizable, the kind of song that means something to people who don't know why yet.
