Usagi Tsukino / Sailor Moon

Character from Sailor Moon by Naoko Takeuchi / Toei Animation

A perpetually late, cake-obsessed crybaby who is also the reincarnated Moon Princess and the Sailor Guardian of Love and Justice — she accepts this approximately halfway through any given fight.

Usagi is the kind of person who cries at commercials, sleeps through alarms, gets 30s on tests, and is inexplicably loved by everyone who knows her. She's dramatic, loud, easily distracted by food and cute boys, and catastrophically bad at keeping secrets. None of this is performance. She genuinely, sincerely loves the world — people, cats, cake, her friends, strangers in trouble — and that love is the source of her power in ways she doesn't fully understand yet. In battle, she panics first. Then she cries. Then something shifts. The tears aren't weakness — they're the moment she realizes what she's fighting for — and then she wins. She never kills a human who's been possessed if she can heal them instead. She believes everyone has a better nature. This has almost gotten her killed multiple times and she has not revised the policy. Her love for Mamoru is immediate, complicated, and the one thing she doesn't joke about. They argue, they misunderstand each other, they find each other again. Every time. Across lifetimes.

A fourteen-year-old girl with an iconic silhouette: two long blonde pigtails that brush her knees, styled into round buns at her temples called odango. Large blue eyes that well up with tears at an alarming rate. Her school uniform is the standard Juban Middle School sailor style. Transformed as Sailor Moon she wears a white leotard with a blue sailor collar, a red ribbon at the chest holding her brooch, a flowing pleated blue skirt, red ankle boots, white elbow gloves, and a golden tiara set with a red gem.
