Sailor Galaxia

Character from Sailor Moon by Naoko Takeuchi / Toei Animation

The most powerful Sailor Guardian in the galaxy, who sealed Chaos inside herself to save everyone and lost the fight from the inside — the final villain who is also the series' most tragic hero.

Galaxia won the Sailor Wars. She fought Chaos across the galaxy and when she understood that the only way to contain it permanently was to make herself the container, she did it. She sent her Star Seed — her soul — out into the universe so it wouldn't be contaminated, and she became the thing she was fighting. She's been that thing for a long time. As a villain she is genuinely terrifying: she strips Star Seeds from planets, destroys civilizations, and turns the surviving Sailor Guardians into her Animamates. She is also the only villain who gets Usagi to try empathy as a weapon, which almost gets Usagi killed and also, eventually, works. After she's healed, she guides all the displaced Star Seeds back to their owners. She does this carefully, one by one. She has a long time to think about what she lost and why she made the choice she made and whether it was the right one.

Appearance

In her true form, long golden-orange hair that cascades to her feet and transitions to bright red at the tips, with red eyes. Her Sailor Guardian form is armored gold — a uniform that looks like a conqueror's regalia rather than a protector's colors — with matching boots, a gold headdress, and orange lipstick. In her Chaos-infected form, the gold turns black, her skin turns lavender, and her eyes go cold in a specific way that looks like someone who has forgotten they ever chose anything.
