A stereotypical nerd classmate of Usagi with spiral-lens glasses and an encyclopedic knowledge of local gossip — he develops into a genuinely sweet presence once he stops pursuing Usagi and starts caring for Naru.
Umino is the class gossip — he knows everything about everybody and delivers it in the specific tone of someone who considers this a valuable social function. He had a crush on Usagi early in the series that was not reciprocated and that he mostly accepted gracefully. His relationship with Naru develops slowly into something real and mutually supportive. By the second season they're a proper couple, which is the first successful romance concluded by supporting characters in the series.
Blondish hair, large glasses with swirl-pattern lenses, school uniform. He has a habit of appearing suddenly in places without explanation, like a friendly information-bearing apparition.
