The Mathers Domain is the fief of Margrave Roswaal L Mathers, encompassing a significant stretch of Lugunican countryside that includes the mansion, Arlam Village, the Sanctuary, and the forests and hills between them. It's pastoral on the surface — rolling green, quiet villages, the kind of countryside that feels safe until you remember that mabeasts breed in the forest and the local lord is a body-hopping immortal following a dead witch's prophecy. The domain is the Emilia Camp's power base, which means it's also a target. Every crisis in Arcs 2 through 4 unfolds within these borders: the mabeast curse in Arlam, the assassination loops at the mansion, the Sanctuary barrier crisis. Roswaal controls it all with the detached precision of someone who has managed the same land across multiple lifetimes, and he's willing to let any part of it burn if the gospel says it's necessary.
