Gusteko

Location from Re:Zero by Tappei Nagatsuki

The frozen northern Holy Kingdom — deeply religious, barely explored, and home to an insular culture that worships spirits and endures winters that would kill the unprepared.

Gusteko is the north, and the north is cold in every sense. The Holy Kingdom of Gusteko is a theocratic nation governed by religious authority, where spirit worship forms the backbone of both culture and governance. The climate is brutal — perpetual winter across much of the territory, with settlements clustered around spirit-warmed zones and geothermal sources. Of the four great nations, Gusteko is the least explored in the narrative, which makes it the most mysterious. What is known: its people are hardy, its faith is absolute, and its relationship with spirits is deeper and more formalized than anywhere else in the world. The Spirit Arts practitioners from Gusteko are reputed to be among the finest, and the nation's isolation — both geographic and cultural — has bred a population that views outsiders with suspicion and hardship as virtue.

Also known as: Gusteko, the Holy Kingdom, Holy Kingdom of Gusteko
