Arlam Village is the kind of place that exists in every fantasy world and usually serves as backdrop. A few dozen families, a village square, children who play in the fields, elders who gossip about the weather. Petra Leyte grew up here — the girl who later became a maid at the mansion, too young and too brave for the world she got pulled into. For Subaru, Arlam was his first real test. A mabeast curse spread through the village's children, and he had to identify the source — a pack of Wolgarm lurking in the forest — and rally a defense before the curse killed everyone under twelve. He succeeded. It cost him. The village remembers him as the weird butler from the mansion who saved their kids. They don't know about the loops where he didn't save them. Arlam is normalcy in a world that keeps trying to take normalcy away.
