Books that show a person's future according to the Witch of Greed's design — the Witch Cult follows their Gospels with religious devotion, never questioning whether the future they're reading was written for their benefit.
The Gospels are prophecy books — imperfect copies of the Tome of Wisdom, Echidna's original creation that could show all possible futures. The copies distributed to Witch Cult members show only fragments: enough to guide behavior, not enough to explain why. Cultists follow their Gospels with absolute, unquestioning faith, interpreting the book's guidance as divine mandate and executing its instructions with the fervor of true believers. Roswaal possesses a more complete version — one of the two original copies of the Tome of Wisdom that Echidna created. His copy has guided his actions for four hundred years across multiple body-hopped lifetimes, and he follows it with the same blind devotion as any cultist. The difference is that Roswaal knows what he's doing. He chose to follow the book. He chose to sacrifice everything — his students, his domain, the people who trusted him — because the book promised him a future where he could see Echidna again. The Gospel is a love letter from a dead woman who never loved anyone, followed by people who should know better.
