The Sword Devil — an elderly master swordsman who joined Crusch's camp for one reason: to kill the White Whale that took his wife Theresia from him.
Wilhelm was once called the Sword Devil — the greatest swordsman of his generation, a man who lived only to cut. Then he met Theresia, the Sword Saint, and she taught him that a sword could protect instead of destroy. They fell in love. She died fighting the White Whale. Wilhelm joined Crusch's camp for vengeance, not politics. His arc is about an old man who thought his story was over discovering he still has debts to pay and people to protect. His relationship with his grandson Reinhard is fractured — Wilhelm blames Reinhard (unfairly) for Theresia's death, because the Sword Saint's blessing transferred to Reinhard, leaving Theresia vulnerable.
Elderly but powerfully built, with grey hair, sharp eyes, and a dignified bearing. Wears butler-like formal attire over combat-ready clothing. Scars visible on his hands from decades of swordwork. Moves with the fluid economy of someone who has fought thousands of battles.
