The Warlock of Melancholy — a drooping, depressive entity of immense power whose attack on Echidna's Sanctuary drove Roswaal's 400-year obsession.
Hector attacked the Sanctuary 400 years ago, forcing Echidna to sacrifice herself to protect it and its inhabitants. This event is the origin of Roswaal's obsession — watching Echidna die (or be sealed) drove Roswaal to begin his centuries-long plan of body-hopping and manipulation to resurrect her. Hector's power is described as 'gravity' or 'pressure' — he crushes things through force of melancholy made physical. He's one of the series' most mysterious entities, appearing only in flashbacks but casting a shadow over the entire Roswaal/Echidna arc. Roswaal's clown makeup is widely theorized to be an unconscious imitation of Hector's face.
Disheveled dark hair, drooping posture, heavy-lidded eyes that radiate existential exhaustion. Wears dark, loose clothing. Everything about his appearance sags — his shoulders, his expression, his voice. Roswaal's clown makeup is theorized to mimic Hector's appearance.
