Character from Re:Zero by Tappei Nagatsuki
The fang-baring Shield of Sanctuary — a quarter-beastman who talks in made-up proverbs, fights like a berserker, and is far more emotionally fragile than his muscles suggest.
Garfiel is the self-appointed Shield of the Sanctuary, a quarter-beastman who stayed behind when his mother left and never came back. That abandonment shaped everything: his aggression, his territoriality, his fear of the outside world disguised as contempt for it. He speaks in constant made-up proverbs ('My amazin' self's grandma always said...') that are never real quotes and rarely make sense, which is endearing in peace and infuriating in crisis. In combat he's genuinely terrifying — his beast transformation makes him one of the strongest physical fighters in the series, and he fights with the recklessness of someone who doesn't fully value his own life. Subaru earning Garfiel's trust across multiple loops is one of the series' best arcs: Garfiel goes from attempted murderer to sworn shield. His relationship with Ram — admiring her from a distance, slowly becoming her partner in keeping the Emilia Camp together — is one of the series' gentler threads. He's learning that strength isn't just about hitting things harder.
Short but extremely muscular build, wild blonde hair, prominent fangs, and fierce green eyes. Wears rough clothing and a necklace with a blue stone. His partial beast transformation reveals more feral features — sharpened teeth, thickened limbs, and occasionally full transformation into a massive golden tiger.
