Echidna is the Witch of Greed, killed 400 years ago but persisting as a soul within her tomb in the Sanctuary. Her 'greed' is for knowledge — she wants to know everything, experience everything, understand every possible outcome. This makes her seem helpful and sympathetic until you realize she has no genuine empathy. She offered Subaru a contract during the Sanctuary arc that would have given him a perfect advisor but stripped him of autonomy — she wanted to experience every timeline through him, treating his suffering as data. She created Beatrice and Puck as experiments, gave Beatrice a purpose designed to keep her waiting forever, and considers this acceptable because the data was interesting. Roswaal loves her. She finds that useful.

Appearance

Long white hair, black eyes, pale skin. Wears a black dress with white accents. Appears as a composed, elegant young woman. Offers tea to everyone she meets — the tea is made from her bodily fluids, which she finds amusing and everyone else finds horrifying. Her smile never quite reaches her eyes.
