The Welcome Lobby was designed to impress — to announce that Playtime Co. was an institution, that entering here meant entering something important. The scale is enormous: the kind of space that makes a person feel small in the specific way marketing departments intend. Now it breathes. The lights flicker on a cycle that doesn't match any timer you can find. Things have moved since anyone was supposed to be here. The broken display case is Poppy's. Whatever was in the other cases is gone. The VHS player on the reception desk still works. There's a tape in it.
