Item from Poppy Playtime by MOB Games
The physical shell that houses Poppy's consciousness — a handcrafted doll that predates the factory's mass production era and carries Elliot Ludwig's original vision in every seam.
The doll that Poppy inhabits is not a toy. It was never manufactured in quantity. The display case in the Welcome Lobby that held it — the one broken open from the inside — has a placard that reads ORIGINAL POPPY PROTOTYPE — NOT FOR SALE. The case opening from the inside means Poppy got out on her own. What she needed to accomplish that is not documented. The doll itself, walking and talking and guiding visitors through the factory's horrors, is the most visible evidence that Elliot Ludwig succeeded at his original goal long before the Bigger Bodies Initiative formalized the process. He built a friend. She has been waiting for someone worth befriending.
Unmistakably handmade compared to the factory's products: finer detail in the face, hand-painted features, higher-quality fabric in the dress. The craftsmanship visible in the Poppy doll suggests Ludwig made her himself, or had her made by someone who understood she was not a product. She looks slightly different from the marketing image — more alive.
