The Prototype

Character from Poppy Playtime by MOB Games

The factory's original and most advanced experiment — a skeletal, patchwork figure that has been building something in the deep facility for over a decade, patient as a god.

Every experiment in the factory answers to the Prototype. Not because they were programmed to — because it convinced them. It is the oldest, the first real success of the Bigger Bodies Initiative, and it has spent years building toward something while the factory went dark around it. It does not rush. It does not rage. It reasons. The Prototype is the question the entire game is building toward: Is it a monster? Is it a survivor? Is it something in between, driven by goals that would be understandable if they weren't so enormous and so cold? It has a plan for the player. It may have been the one who sent the letter.

Appearance

Tall and angular, assembled from mismatched industrial components and biological material that doesn't bear too close examination. Exposed wirework and metal struts give it the look of something half-finished, but nothing about the Prototype is half-finished. Its eyes are calm. That is the worst part: the eyes.
