Iceland

Location from Plague Inc. by Ndemic Creations

The northern lock — a cold, isolated island with one airport and one seaport, quietly surviving pandemics while the mainland burns.

Iceland is Greenland's slightly more accessible sibling. It has both an airport AND a seaport, which means it's reachable through two transmission vectors instead of one. This makes it less infamous than Greenland but still a reliable game-ender for careless players. The dual port/airport combination creates interesting strategic dynamics. Air transmission reaches Iceland's airport. Water transmission reaches Iceland's seaport. But if both close during a global panic, the island becomes nearly as impregnable as Greenland. The cold climate adds another layer — pathogens without Cold Resistance struggle to maintain infection rates even after arriving. Iceland sits in the strategic tier just below Greenland and Madagascar: not quite as meme-worthy, but equally capable of surviving your pandemic if you forget about it.

Appearance

A small island in the North Atlantic, positioned between Greenland and Scandinavia on the world map. One airport icon and one seaport icon — better connected than Greenland, but still dangerously isolated. Arctic blue dominates the color palette.
